Project Masquerade

I deceided to continue using the name Project Masquerade after the release of the Cybernetic Empire album in 2010 on the Italian Steelheart Label.
The first Project Masquerade album, "Nothing but everything will remain"
is recorded in the Netherlands and the US with the help of a lot of great guestmucisians and will be released on 1.10.2011

Edge of Serenity

In december 2009 Wietse Halma, leading man and songwriter of Edge of Serenity asked me to join his band because he wanted to promote his album "The Chaos Theory" , released on the US Ronulus X label.

X-ist

X-ist, formed in 2004 by Rogier de Vos and Peter de Boer, played extreme metal, influenced by bands like Killswitch Engage, Meshugga and Machine Head.
X-ist ´s music could be discribed as brutal and experimental, however isn´t overloaded and without direction. The songs contained also catchy meleodies and a lot of power.

In june 2005 the band presented their first 3 track demo-cd, recorded at the famous studio Stilteloos in Amsterdam, presenting an unique mixture of oldschool and extreme metal.

Due to personal changes the band split up in 2006

Memonkey

Together with Leonie van der Hoeven I tried to set up a new band

after NEW BREED spilt up with Henning Brand on drums and Jaap Demmendaal on bassguitar

New Breed

After a musical marathon cross-over backpacking journey which resulted in the 5 track CD "CUT THE CRAP" (2002). Dutch musicians magazine Music Maker magazine evaluates "Cut the crap" with 4 out 5 stars as a CD with the most surprising guitarwork .

NEW Breed is the winner of a prestigious bandcompetition in the Netherlands in 2002 (Westerpopbokaal) and assured itself a place on dutch festivals like UILENPOP, GEUZENPOP and WESTERPOP along bands like Peter Pan Speedrock and Intwine.

In 2003 NEW BREED also visits the Harrow studios to records the cdsingle Lost

n 2003 Noud is approached by the U.S. producer Christian Barth to rewrite a
Herman Brood song for a tribute CD.
This results in a collaboration with Noneedles rapper Vincent van der Veld, recording“Back in Your love” ,mastered in the US by the famous BOB KATZ. (Katz is well known for mastering three Grammy award-winning albums in the US)

NEW BREED gets its musical backbone with the arrival of new vocalist Leonie van der Hoeven. Leonie is a child of the 80ties but gets inspiration from bands like Led Zeppelin and singers like Janis Joplin and Tori Amos. GENERATION NEXT, a 6 track demo CD, is released in in January 2004 and there is also a video clip of the song CASUALTY

Thanx to the combination of different musical backgrounds and inspirations
NEW BREED stood for innovative, modern, melodic, hard, raw pure rock.
At the end of 2004 The band plays some liveshows with DENNIS LEEFLANG on drums and records “Masculine”, the titletrack for the Dutch movie “Heilig Bloed”
The band splits up in 2005.

Noone

After the project Masguerade recordings I moved to Hilversum, and I decided to give it a try and focus on totally different music. I joined the band Noone.
Lead Singer Dinet Poortman who had just finished a full length cd in the US -Not a gullable Girl- tried to get a band together to promote the album.
After a year full of rehearsals and personelchanges, Dinet decided not to continue the band.

A month later I joined New Breed. One of the tracks I wrote for Noone later became New Breed´s cdsingle Lost (of course in a totally different version’) and an experimental track with only tapped guitarparts, vocals and Keyboards appered on New Breed´s Generation Next recordings

VINNY KAY

Vinny Kay is a great dutch singer, guitarplayer and songwriter who was writing songs for his solo album. I helped him out during the bandrehearsals for one year so he could concentrate on his vocals and songs.

MASQUERADE

When I left Lionspride l was getting influenced by guitarplayers like Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony Macalpine and US metalbands like CRIMSON GLORY and QUEENSRYCHE. I started a project in the same fashion.

Starting off as a project I was able to get Jack Kraal on drums and Ronald Klatt on bassguitar.
After the first gig with guestvocalist Vince Wehren it developed into a real band and Somewhere around 1989 Masquerade ended up at the Joe’s garage studio recording 3 tracks with Richard Muermans on vocals who just left Avalon.

The demo started selling realy well, eventually playing gigs with bands like HELLSTAR, CRIMSON GLORY, ELEGY and VENGEANCE, getting great international reviews, and being on the virge of an record deal with an French label.
Prerequisition of the French label was Richard Muermans would stay with the band. Richard, however did not want to stay, the music was to much "metal". So Masquerade had to audition for another lead-singer.
None of the 30+ appliants in the next year was of equal quality to
Richard. So that was the end at that point of time for Masquerade.

A few years later Ronald Klatt and I started a project with the name "PROJECT MASQUERADE", with ROB SNIJDERS, one of Holland’s best drummers, on drums and 3 different lead-vocalists .
amongst them GREGOOR V.D. LOO (Lemur Voice) HANS REINDERS (Form) and MICHEL ZANDBERGEN (Picture). THE BAND had a long recording session, recording 9 tracks from which 5 had been mixed by RON LIEBERTON (Zinatra)

LIONS PRIDE

In 1984 I joined LIONSPRIDE from Belgium.

The band had just released their first album BREAKING OUT on MAUSOLEUM records and had departed from one of the guitarplayers.

I played a lot of gigs with Lionspride in The Netherlands and Belgium and the band did a small clubtour as well., ending at the SCHOCKWAVE FESTIVAL where also an official live video was recorded
